Ego and Weapon in Build A Striker: The Blue Lock Stats Explained

Ego and Weapon are Build A Striker's two Blue Lock signature attributes — and the game's biggest draft differentiators. What they mean, where they come from, and how to draft them.

Eight of Build A Striker's ten attributes are football stats. The other two — Ego and Weapon — are Blue Lock concepts, and they are the pair that makes this game an adaptation rather than a generic draft sim. If you know the anime, they need no introduction. If you do not, here is why these two stats warp draft boards.

Ego: The Thesis Stat

Blue Lock's premise is a program designed to forge the world's best egoist striker — a player whose absolute self-belief and hunger to score trumps teamwork orthodoxy. Ego, in the source material, is not a flaw to manage; it is the engine of greatness. The show's entire drama runs on characters discovering, weaponizing, or being broken by their ego.

As a draftable attribute, Ego carries that weight: it is the identity stat of the build. Its code presence tells you the same story — one of the game's live codes is literally EGOIST, the anime's term for its striker-philosophy. When Ego shows a high value on your board, you are being offered the stat the whole game is named around — the tier list slots it in S-tier with Shooting and Weapon for exactly this reason.

Weapon: The Special-Move Stat

In Blue Lock, a player's "weapon" is their signature capability — the one elite skill their entire game is built to deploy. The protagonist's direct shot, a rival's dribbling genius: weapons are what make strikers distinct rather than merely good.

Build A Striker drafts Weapon as one of the ten attributes, and it plays as the differentiator stat: the number that separates your finished striker from the field of similar builds. Where Shooting decides how well everyone finishes, Weapon decides what kind of striker yours is. Its value spikes in the reveal — builds with a strong Weapon read as complete identities, not stat piles.

Drafting The Pair

Both stats follow the same rule: peak or pass. A high Ego or Weapon value is a build-defining take (S-tier, reach for it); a mid value competes with B-tier fills on vibe alone. The common beginner mistake is drafting the name of the stat instead of its number — Ego at 40 is not a philosophy, it is a mid board slot.

The two also pair intentionally: a build that peaks both Ego and Weapon is the closest thing Build A Striker has to a canonical Blue Lock striker — the egoist with the signature weapon. The beginner strategy guide covers when such a reach is correct on weak boards; the codes page has the EGOIST code live, because of course it does.
